Halifax Story Slam is the brainchild of Craig Moore, inspired by his profound admiration for CBC’s Vinyl Cafe’s Story Exchange and the captivating authenticity of The Moth’s live storytelling experience. Craig felt that the Halifax community would be an ideal place to shine a light on local storytellers, help foster new ones and launch a live storytelling event with the goal to make it a recurring experience. Without a Canadian counterpart or a direct blueprint from the Moth, he has found willing partners including the Halifax Library and several story “guides” to help navigate this inaugural event and embrace the inevitable learning curve ahead.
