A story slam is a group of people telling of telling their true (as remembered) personal story in front of an audience only from memory. No reading from scripts, pages, prompts or presentations. Just them and their memory. For Halifax Story Slam, the storyteller cohort meets every few weeks with story coaches to develop their story. This is taken directly from the incredible organization called The Moth, which hosts smaller, story events as well as submitted pitches. They select specific stories and work with these participants to craft and refine their stories into compelling true narratives that get told live into their main stage events. The best way to understand it is to watch a few below.
